A Case Study on the Effects of Weather Conditions on Forest Fire Propagation Parameters in the Malekroud Forest in Guilan, Iran

The present study investigates the effect of climatic parameters, such as air relative humidity and wind speed, on fire spread propagation indexes in Malekroud Forest, Iran using FARSITE simulator based Rothermel’s original equation. Standard fuel models are used to calibrate vegetation cover. Sorensen (SC) kappa (κ) coefficients, well Overestimation Index (OI), estimate simulation’s accuracy. results confirm that both ambient condition data appropriate is crucial reaching reasonable simulations. values Rate Fire Spread (ROS), Flame Length (FML), Line Intensity (FLI) reported for each particular scenario. simulation show Kappa coefficient situations most similar real reached 0.82 0.80, respectively. investigated fire’s severity categorized low-condition behavior. shows falls harshly case by more than 72%, we will not witness natural a large scale.
